Consultation
The decision to adopt an animal is not to be taken lightly. We want to ensure a happy transition for you and your new pet. When the application is completed our staff/volunteers will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the adoption process. Your new pet will be going through a major, and possibly stressful, change when transitioning to life in your home. CAWS staff and volunteers are happy to assist you by sharing their experience and training. We will also perform a home visit to ensure the presence of a fenced yard, appropriate kennel or run.

Home Visit
A home visit a required for all dogs and special-needs cats. Click here to see a list of typical questions that will be asked and situations that will be assessed. In the adoption is out-of-state, a local rescue group will be connected to perform a home visit.

Agreement
Once the home inspection is complete and the animal has had all required vet care, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement. An adoption fee is assessed and payment is expected upon delivery of the pet. A CAWS representative will sign and date your agreement and mail you a copy along with all vets records.
